PathForward Financial is educational software. It is not financial advice. We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, bank, lender, insurance agency, tax preparer, or law firm. Nothing here is a recommendation tailored to your circumstances.
General information only
Everything in this application — articles, rules of thumb, suggested sequences, calculators, projections, and prompts — is general educational information. It does not account for your income, obligations, tax position, health, employment security, family circumstances, risk tolerance, or goals.
Two people with identical balances can correctly make opposite decisions. A strategy that is sound for one household may be actively harmful for another.
The guidance in this app is opinionated
PathForward teaches a particular, deliberately conservative approach: build a starter emergency fund, eliminate consumer debt, grow a fuller reserve, then invest steadily for the long term. Some of the guidance is stated firmly — for example, cautioning against certain insurance products or against carrying credit card balances.
These are opinions about general good practice, not universal truths. Reasonable, qualified professionals disagree about several of them. Where our guidance conflicts with advice from someone who knows your actual situation, prefer theirs.
Calculators and projections
Every projection is an estimate built on assumptions — steady returns, unchanging interest rates, consistent contributions, stable income, no emergencies. Real life supplies all of those in the wrong order.
- Investment returns are not guaranteed. Past performance does not predict future results. Investments can lose value, including your original capital.
- Debt payoff dates are estimates. They depend on rates, fees, and minimum payments that can change.
- Property valuations are automated estimates from a third-party model, not appraisals. Only a licensed appraiser can value a home.
- Retirement projections cannot know inflation, tax law, market returns, or how long you will live.
- Bank data may be incomplete or delayed. Your bank’s own records are authoritative — always.
Please talk to a professional
Consult a qualified, ideally fiduciary professional before making any significant decision — particularly one involving:
- Retirement accounts, withdrawals, or rollovers
- Buying, selling, or refinancing property
- Life, disability, or long-term care insurance
- Taxes, business structure, estate planning, or wills
- Bankruptcy, debt settlement, or credit repair
- Student loan consolidation or forgiveness programmes
A fiduciary is legally obliged to act in your interest. Ask directly whether someone is one before taking their advice.
No guarantee of results
We make no promise about your financial outcomes. Testimonials and examples are illustrative, not typical, and not a promise of what you will achieve. Your results depend on your circumstances, your decisions, and factors outside anyone’s control.
Your decisions are yours
You are solely responsible for your financial decisions. PathForward is not liable for losses arising from the use of this application. Verify anything that matters against your own statements and a professional who knows your situation.
